back in the full swing

Yogis,

Upon my return from India I have been surprised by how clean I feel. And I don’t mean dove/shave/shower clean, though I will admit that my first shower back was ecstatic. I mean that my insides feel clean, my koshas (which doesn’t really have a great translation) – the subtle sheaths or layers of my body: the food sheath, the air-apparent sheath, the mind-stuff sheath, the wisdom-apparent sheath and the bliss-apparent sheath. I feel like all of my energetic layers have been scrubbed down with a luffa and I feel the best I have felt in years.

Last night I was out with a dear friend from the trip and she asked me why I thought I felt this way. These practices are profound. I committed to meditating every day, and all of the yoga and the chanting, they really do have purifying effects. Because of my hectic lifestyle, I often times don’t give myself the time I need for my own practices. And because I was virtually off for two weeks, I got to really take the time to do the work. These good habits that we cultivate (and listen, cultivating them on a trip is much easier than cultivating them here, I get that), they are seeds and they form samskaras (pathways), that continue to grow and blossom. It’s the trust and the dedication in the practice that yields wonderful results. You know them to be true because you can feel them. I guess in the end that is why we are all yogis, because regardless of the degree, we have all felt this in some tiny or large way.

So I am here to inspire you to carry on with all of the good things in your life. As the weather cools off and that call to go in gets stronger, it is a really good time to deepen or dedicate time to the things you know make you more sane and more connected.

New news: I am very excited to join the teaching staff at Kula Tribeca. Starting next Sunday I will be teaching there Sundays at 9:15 and Wednesdays at 7:45 in the morning. I will also be adding a Monday 5:45 class at the House of Jai starting in November. And Bija is now called Maha Padma Yoga, but the location and the love are still the same.

Also, all of the details for Colombia March 2013! are finally posted here on my website, so check it out and come with us! It is going to be amazing! Let me know if you have any questions.
